Job Title: Technical Specification Manager\n\nLocation: UK Role (field based with travel)\n\nSalary: £50,000 to £55,000 basic (DOE) + bonus\n\nBenefits: Company car or car allowance, performance bonus, pension, holiday allowance, laptop and phone, ongoing technical and professional development\n\nReporting to: Managing Director\n\nThe Role\n\nAn experienced Technical Specification Manager is required to secure and convert product specifications on construction and engineering projects. The role focuses on consultant and contractor engagement, early-stage project involvement and delivery of engineered and BIM-enabled solutions across a specialist product portfolio.\n\nThis is a senior, commercially focused technical role, combining specification sales, project tracking, BIM engagement and internal technical leadership.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nConsultant and Contractor Engagement\n\nBuild and maintain strong relationships with key consultants, contractors and influencers\n\nAct as the primary point of contact for all specification-related enquiries\n\nDeliver CPDs, technical presentations and product demonstrations, including BIM-led sessions\n\nPromote the full product portfolio and technical capabilities to consulting engineers and design teams\n\nSpecification and Project Management\n\nIdentify and track and regional projects at early design stage\n\nManage live projects from specification through to order using CRM systems\n\nSecure product specifications with consultants, engineers, architects and contractors\n\nProtect specifications through value engineering and tender stages\n\nMaintain accurate records of BIM files, datasheets, certifications and digital content usage\n\nTechnical Sales Support\n\n * \n\n Work closely with regional Business Development Managers to convert specifications into orders\n\n * \n\n Provide technical project support and value engineering solutions\n\n * \n\n Interpret engineering drawings, valve schedules, schematics and take-offs\n\n * \n\n Deliver technical training to internal teams and external customers\n\nProduct Data and Documentation\n\n * \n\n Maintain in-depth knowledge of product ranges, industry standards and regulations\n\n * \n\n Oversee creation and maintenance of specification documentation including datasheets, O&M manuals, warranties, sustainability documentation and certifications\n\n * \n\n Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure documentation remains accurate and up to date\n\n * \n\n Ensure all required approvals and certifications are current, including WRAS where applicable\n\n * \n\n Provide feedback to senior management on market trends, customer requirements and product development opportunities\n\nBIM and Digital Specification\n\n * \n\n Promote in-house BIM capability to consultants and customers to generate specification leads\n\n * \n\n Support the business in working towards ISO 19650 / BIM accreditation\n\n * \n\n Monitor industry trends in BIM adoption, digital construction standards and Revit content requirements\n\n * \n\n Review competitor BIM tools and digital engagement strategies and provide structured feedback\n\nSkills and Experience\n\n * \n\n Proven experience in a technical specification, design sales or technical role\n\n * \n\n Strong background engaging with consultants, contractors and design engineers\n\n * \n\n Excellent understanding of specification sales and project lifecycle management\n\n * \n\n Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation\n\n * \n\n Strong presentation and CPD delivery skills\n\n * \n\n Commercially aware with a consultative sales approach\n\n * \n\n Confident using CRM systems and digital project tracking tools\n\nDesirable\n\n * \n\n Experience within valves, instrumentation, building services or engineered products\n\n * \n\n BIM knowledge and experience working with Revit content\n\n * \n\n Familiarity with industry standards, certifications and compliance requirements\n\n * \n\n Full UK driving licence\n\nPersonal Attributes\n\n * \n\n Professional, credible and technically confident\n\n * \n\n Well organised with strong attention to detail\n\n * \n\n Proactive and commercially minded\n\n * \n\n Comfortable working autonomously in a role
