Job Description
Telemetry Architect Remote Working
£800 - £900pd
We are looking for someone to design and implement an observability model for a bank’s payments platform, leveraging Dynatrace and OpenTelemetry to improve infrastructure and application monitoring while reducing alert noise. Enhance business service–level observability by developing scalable approaches for transaction tracking, health indicators, and near real-time visibility across the end-to-end payments processing lifecycle.

Responsibilities
Architect a collision-free environment by defining standards for Dynatrace and OpenTelemetry coexistence, including collector configurations and agent prioritization.
Build infrastructure observability frameworks with advanced, noise-free metrics (e.g., latency-based health indicators) and AI-enhanced alerting systems.
Develop multi-model approaches for application/business service observability, incorporating transaction volume trending, real-time message reconciliation, and topology-aware monitoring for diverse services.
Leverage OpenTelemetry for instrumentation in custom applications and Dynatrace for aggregation, shifting from SQL-based views to tool-driven dashboards and APIs.
Lead maturity assessments, proof-of-concepts, and roadmap planning to evolve observability across the organization.
Must Haves
5+ years in observability architecture, with deep expertise in OpenTelemetry (e.g., semantic conventions, exporters) and Dynatrace (e.g., PurePath tracing, service modeling).
Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and business process monitoring in financial or transaction-heavy environments.
Proficiency in infrastructure metrics (MQ, JVM, threads) and tools for data visualization (e.g., Grafana integration).
Experience with cloud- technologies (Kubernetes, AWS/Azure) and scripting for automation.
Advanced degree in IT or Engineering; certifications in observability tools or cloud architecture.
Nice to Haves
* Familiarity with AI-enhanced monitoring techniques.
* Experience in leading observability transformation initiatives.
* Understanding of Agile methodologies in observability architecture.
