Temporary Works Design Engineer Reading (Office + Site-Based) Full-Time | PermanentAre you a Temporary Works Design Engineer with strong experience delivering complex temporary works solutions?Looking to lead high-profile projects across London and the Thames Valley within fast-paced, reactive environments?We are seeking an experienced Temporary Works specialist to take technical ownership of design delivery, mentor engineers and drive best practice across multiple projects.The RoleYou will lead the design and coordination of temporary works solutions across construction and infrastructure projects. This is a senior technical role combining hands-on design, project leadership and stakeholder engagement.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the design and delivery of temporary works including formwork, falsework, access scaffolding, propping, excavation support and bespoke steel/timber solutionsEnsure full compliance with BS 5975, Eurocodes, British Standards and UK Health & Safety regulationsPrepare and review technical reports, structural calculations and design proposalsTake ownership of multiple projects, managing programme, priorities and client expectationsUndertake site visits to assess constraints, provide engineering guidance and resolve technical issuesCollaborate with contractors, site teams and multidisciplinary engineers to ensure safe, efficient deliveryMentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across the teamDrive continuous improvement in temporary works design processes and standardsAbout YouBEng or MEng in Civil or Structural EngineeringChartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards ICE/IStructE accreditation desirable8+ years' experience in temporary works designStrong background in structural supports, scaffolding, formwork, falsework and excavation systemsProficient in AutoCAD, TEKLA, SCIA, Tedds and structural analysis softwareIn-depth knowledge of Eurocodes, British Standards and temporary works best practiceStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsConfident communicator, able to present technical solutions clearly to clients and stakeholdersProven ability to lead projects and support junior team developmentWorking PatternA blend of office-based design work in Reading and site visits across London and the Thames Valley, with occasional travel as required.What's on OfferSalary up to £75,000 depending on experience25 days' annual leave plus bank holidaysPension schemeDiscretionary bonusPrivate healthcareDeath in Service benefitHybrid workingOngoing professional development and chartership supportOpportunity to lead technically challenging and high-impact projectsApplyIf you are a Temporary Works Design Engineer ready to take ownership of complex projects and drive technical excellence, we would welcome your application.JBRP1_UKTJ
