This is a high-responsibility opportunity to play a central safety-critical role on a major UK nuclear new build programme. As Temporary Works Engineer, you will take full ownership of the design, coordination, and control of temporary works that directly enable safe construction delivery across one of the most tightly regulated environments in the industry.
With strong autonomy and daily site influence, this role places you at the intersection of engineering assurance and construction execution, where decisions matter, risks must be controlled rigorously, and standards cannot slip. For experienced engineers, this position offers a career-defining platform to demonstrate technical authority, safety leadership, and engineering judgement on a nationally significant nuclear project.
After a decade of supporting the NNB programme from basic design and FEED, ENG Bauen has now been asked to support the on field execution deployment, with the appointment of a Temporary Works Engineer to join a large-scale nuclear construction programme. This role is central to site safety and engineering assurance, taking ownership of the design, coordination, and control of all temporary works activities.
The position combines technical engineering competence with strong site presence, ensuring temporary works are delivered safely, compliantly, and in line with construction sequencing.
The Assignment
* Design, review, and manage temporary works, including access, scaffolding, and support structures
* Maintain and control the Temporary Works Register and classification process
* Ensure compliance with UK construction standards, site procedures, and HSEQ requirements
* Coordinate with construction teams, designers, and subcontractors
* Manage risk, change, and assurance throughout the temporary works lifecycle
The Ideal Candidate
* Strong background in temporary works engineering on complex construction sites
* Proven experience managing temporary works from design through implementation and removal
* Clear ownership of safety, risk management, and engineering assurance
* Practical, site-focused engineer with strong coordination skills
* Experience in nuclear, infrastructure, heavy industrial, or regulated environments
