Location: Telford Salary: £43,400 + overtime (as available) Shifts: Rotating days 06:00-14:00 / 14:00-22:00 Permanent | 37 hours per week
A leading global automotive manufacturing organisation is looking to recruit an experienced Toolmaker to join its growing engineering and tooling team in Telford.
This role will support the build, overhaul and maintenance of high pressure casting dies, assembly fixtures and automation equipment, working from CAD data and engineering drawings to deliver high-quality tooling solutions.
The role:
As a Toolmaker, you will be responsible for the mechanical build, repair and assembly of tooling used within advanced manufacturing and automation projects. The role will also involve supporting casting die overhaul programmes, including the disassembly, preparation, assembly and fitting of casting tools and inserts.
You will work closely with engineering teams to ensure tooling meets required quality standards, tolerances and project timelines.
Key responsibilities:
Mechanical build and assembly of jigs, fixtures and tooling from CAD and 2D drawings Disassembly, preparation and reassembly of casting dies Assembly and fitting of new casting inserts and steels Carrying out tooling repairs and modifications to meet production requirements Supporting press and die casting tooling spotting activities Reading blue spot and carrying out the bed-out process to adjust die surfaces Ensuring tooling builds follow Bills of Materials (BOMs) and engineering specifications Supporting assembly of mechanical and pneumatic components within automation cells Maintaining clear shift handovers and documentation Working to quality, safety and engineering standardsThe person:
City & Guilds Toolmaking qualification (or equivalent) with post-apprenticeship experience Previous experience within an automotive or tooling manufacturing environment Ability to interpret engineering drawings and CAD data Understanding of precision measurement and GD&T Experience assembling mechanical tooling and components Knowledge of the blue spot bed-out process is advantageousDesirable experience:
