Job Description
A top tier European Bank is looking for an internal audit director to globally lead the traded and climate risk portfolio. Managing a team of 10 across London, New York and Singapore you will need to be a technical expert in market/traded risk with experience from a top tier bank with a complex derivative portfolio.
Working closely with senior stakeholders across the first, second, and third line you will lead the transformation agenda for Internal Audit traded risk function.
Ideally you will be already operating at the Director/Executive Director level however strong candidates at the VP level will be considered. You must have team management/leadership experience and be able to engage with stakeholders on technical issues. A former risk manager who is now operating in Internal audit or someone currently working in risk who is looking to progress to a broader role in the third line will also be considered.

Purpose of the role
To support the development of audits aligned to the bank’s standards and objectives by working collaboratively with colleagues, providing accurate information and recommendations, and complying with policies and procedures.
Accountabilities
- Audit development and delivery support, including financial statements, accounting practices, operational processes, IT systems and risk management.
- Identification of operational risks to support the delivery of the Internal Audit Plan through risk assessments.
- Assessment of internal control effectiveness and their capability to identify and mitigate risk aligned to regulatory requirements.
- Communication of key findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including the Audit Owner, senior managers and directors.
- Identification of regulatory news and industry trends/developments to provide timely insight and recommendations for best practice.

They will train, guide and coach less experienced specialists and provide information affecting long term profits, organisational risks and strategic decisions..
- Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees to influence decisions made outside of own function, offering significant input to function wide strategic initiatives.
- Manage, coordinate and enable resourcing, budgeting and policy creation for a significant sub-function.
- Escalates breaches of policies / procedure appropriately.
- Foster and guide compliance, ensure regulations are observed that relevant processes in place to facilitate adherence.
- Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to both monitor and influence on behalf of the bank, when appropriate.
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division / Group to achieve the overall business objectives.
- Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within own discipline alongside up-to-date relevant sector / functional knowledge, and insight into external market developments / initiatives.
- Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in often complex/ sensitive situations.
- Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and certain strategic decisions or recommendations within own area.
- Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally.
- Act as principal contact point for key clients and counterparts in other functions/ businesses divisions.
- Mandated as a spokesperson for the function and business division.
Additional Job Description
- The role provides senior leadership and support to the Global Traded Risk stakeholders and Traded Risk audit teams.
- The role-holder will have direct accountability over the Traded Risk portfolio including People Leader responsibilities.
- Responsible for leading the banks internal audit relationship with the 2LOD Risk stakeholders applicable for this portfolio.
- Portfolio Manager for up to 10 FTE across UK/US/APAC
- Member of the functions Legal Entities Management teams representing the Traded Risk portfolio.
- Occasionally being an Audit Owner leading the delivery of select, higher risk audits in the portfolio.
