Trading Application Support Engineer - Trading Firm - London - £120k + bonus


  • Role: Trading Application Support Engineer
  • Requirements: App Support, Linux, Python, SQL, etc.
  • Compensation: £120,000 (base) + generous bonus (very negotiable DOE)


Durlston Partners is working with an elite-level Trading Firm that is looking for a Trading Application Support Engineer to join their team.


The Role:

  • Production Stability: Monitor and troubleshoot real-time trading systems and order management systems (OMS/EMS).
  • Incident Management: diagnose outages, latency issues, and data breaks in a live market environment.
  • Data Mining: Use SQL to query trade data, investigate breaks, and generate reports for the desk.
  • Automation: Build monitoring tools and automate manual operational tasks using Python.


The Tech Stack:

  • Linux: Strong command-line proficiency (grep, awk, sed, process management)
  • SQL: Ability to write complex queries (joins, troubleshooting data integrity).
  • Python: Scripting for automation and reading code to identify bugs.
  • Nice to have: FIX Protocol experience or Scheduler knowledge (AutoSys/Control-M).
