Transducer Test Engineer

Sonardyne is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Transducer Test Engineer to join our Electromechanical Design Group. This is a hands-on, varied role supporting both existing underwater acoustic products and calibration equipment used across our UK and international operations.

About the Role Reporting to the Senior Transducer Engineer , you will play a key role in testing, analysing, and improving underwater acoustic transducer systems. The role involves both laboratory-based work and close collaboration with production and engineering teams.
If you join you will: Perform in-air and in-water acoustic and electrical testing

Analyse test data and produce clear technical reports, including root cause analysis and recommendations

Use specialised laboratory equipment to measure sound pressure levels, frequency response, noise, and vibration

Develop and execute test procedures that meet acoustic, electrical, and environmental standards

Support and improve existing underwater acoustic products and calibration systems

Communicate results clearly through written reports and technical presentations

Liaise with production teams to improve acoustic processes and implement enhancements

Assist with the development and evaluation of new subsea transducer designs

Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and certifications

About You : You are analytical, methodical, and enjoy hands-on engineering work. You take pride in producing high-quality results and communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Ideally we would like: Strong problem-solving ability with excellent attention to detail

Knowledge or interest in underwater acoustics

Clear and effective written communication skills

Understanding of transducer and electrical engineering fundamentals

Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office

Degree in Physics, Mathematics, or Engineering (or equivalent)

It would be a bonus if you had: Experience developing laboratory software and test tools

Practical mechanical engineering skills, including prototype assembly and testing

Experience working within quality-controlled or regulated environments
