Job Description

Transformer Rigger – Substations & BESS\n\nLocation: UK-wide (travel required)\nContract Type: Permanent or Contract\nSalary / Rate:\n\n * \n\n Permanent: Up to £50,000 (DOE)\n\n * \n\n Contract: £250–£280 per day\n\nThe Role\n\nWe are looking for an experienced Transformer Rigger to support the delivery of HV substation, BESS and supergrid transformer projects across the UK. This is a hands-on role focused on the safe movement, positioning and installation of large power transformers and associated heavy electrical plant.\n\nYou will work as part of specialist site teams on complex, safety-critical projects, supporting transformer delivery through to final positioning and readiness for commissioning.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * \n\n Off-load, rig, jack, skid and position power and supergrid transformers\n\n * \n\n Carry out heavy lifting operations in line with approved lift plans and RAMS\n\n * \n\n Use cranes, jacking systems, skates, winches and lifting frames safely and effectively\n\n * \n\n Sling and signal during complex and tandem crane lifts\n\n * \n\n Assist with mechanical assembly, including radiators, conservators and transformer accessories\n\n * \n\n Install and remove temporary works such as beams, gantries and track systems\n\n * \n\n Work closely with Crane Supervisors, Appointed Persons, Site Managers and OEM engineers\n\n * \n\n Maintain high standards of safety and housekeeping at all times\n\n * \n\n Comply fully with site rules, permit-to-work systems and CDM requirements\n\nEssential Experience & Skills\n\n * \n\n Proven experience as a Transformer Rigger on substation or power infrastructure projects\n\n * \n\n Strong background in heavy lifting and transformer installation\n\n * \n\n Ability to work from detailed lift plans and method statements\n\n * \n\n Good understanding of safety-critical environments\n\n * \n\n Willingness to travel to sites across the UK\n\n * \n\n Strong teamwork and communication skills\n\n * \n\n Full UK driving licence\n\nDesirable Qualifications\n\n * \n\n CPCS / NPORS Slinger Signaller or Rigging qualification\n\n * \n\n Substation Safety Passport\n\n * \n\n Banksman or Crane Lift experience\n\n * \n\n SMSTS / SSSTS (advantageous but not essential)\n\n * \n\n Manual Handling, Working at Height\n\nWhat’s on Offer\n\n * \n\n Long-term pipeline of substation, BESS and supergrid transformer work\n\n * \n\n Choice of permanent or contract engagement\n\n * \n\n Competitive salary or day rate\n\n * \n\n Opportunity to work on major UK power infrastructure projects\n\n * \n\n Consistent work for reliable, experienced riggers
