Transport Planner
Maidstone or Gatwick Office
£30,000 – £45,000 per annum (depending on experience)
4 days office-based, 1 day working from home.
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Transport Planner to join our clients growing team. This opportunity is ideal for candidates with at least 3 years’ experience in transport planning, as well as more experienced professionals who are capable of managing small projects independently.
The successful candidate will ideally be based in our Maidstone office, working 4 days per week in the office and 1 day from home. We will also consider candidates based in our Gatwick office under the same hybrid arrangement. Applicants who are able to work across both locations would be highly advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver high-quality transport assessments, transport statements, and travel plans
- Support and manage transport planning projects from inception through to completion
- Conduct traffic data analysis, modelling, and forecasting
- Liaise with clients, local authorities, and key stakeholders
- Provide technical input into planning applications and development proposals
- Prepare clear and concise technical reports and presentations
- Manage smaller projects independently, including timelines and client communication
- Support senior team members on larger and more complex projects
Skills & Experience Required
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Transport Planning
- Strong understanding of UK planning policy, highways, and transport regulations
- Experience preparing technical transport reports and supporting planning submissions
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word
- Strong stakeholder and client management skills
- Project management capability for small to medium-sized assignments
Qualifications
- Degree in Transport Planning, Civil engineering, Geography, Urban Planning, or a related discipline
- A Master’s degree is desirable but not essential
- Professional accreditation such as CILT, CIHT, or TPP/TPS accreditation is highly desirable
