What You’ll Do

This is a GP small animal role with flexibility to shape your focus.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Conducting thorough clinical consultations and diagnostic workups
- Performing routine and advanced soft tissue surgeries
- Managing medical cases from diagnosis through to treatment and follow-up
- Utilising advanced imaging, including CT, where clinically appropriate
- Performing dental procedures supported by dental radiography
- Delivering pain management and treatment plans aligned with RCVS standards
- Collaborating closely with RVNs and support staff to ensure safe anaesthesia and inpatient care
- Contributing to clinical discussions and continuous improvement initiatives

Depending on your interests, you may:

- Develop a surgical bias
- Lead on imaging and diagnostics
- Build a service around a particular clinical interest
- Focus on consulting excellence and case continuity

Skills & Experience You’ll Build

What We Need From You (Competencies with Criteria)

We focus on measurable competencies so you can assess your suitability clearly.

1️) Clinical Expertise

- RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon Minimum 2 years UK small animal GP experience
- Confident performing routine soft tissue surgeries independently
- Competent in diagnostic interpretation (haematology, biochemistry, radiography)

2️) Communication

- Able to clearly explain complex treatment plans and costs to clients
- Evidence of obtaining informed consent and maintaining accurate clinical records
- Demonstrated ability to build long-term client relationships

3️) Collaboration

- Experience working effectively with RVNs during anaesthesia and inpatient care
- Participated in clinical case discussions
- Able to coordinate multi-step treatment plans within a team setting

4️) Problem-Solving

- Evidence of managing medical or surgical cases independently
- Demonstrates sound clinical judgement and appropriate referral decisions

5️) Adaptability & Development

- Regular CPD engagement Interest in developing a clinical niche or special interest
- Willingness to adopt new diagnostic tools and clinical protocols
