The Regulatory Change Team (RCT) deals with new regulatory developments starting at the pre‑publication stage (e.g. analysis, consultation papers, draft regulation, etc.) leading to full implementation. It covers financial regulations in the UK, EU‑wide, US, and some topics from overseas jurisdictions where MUFG‑Securities (London) has licences. Topics are allocated to team members who become SMEs on the topic and are responsible for their topics throughout the various stages of the regulatory lifecycle. Among others, this includes reviewing and opining in consultations, completing impact analysis, providing regulatory advice during implementation of new regulations, attending trade‑association meetings and representing MUFG at those meetings, and producing briefing papers, newsletter articles and general MI. This is a 12‑month maternity cover. Responsibilities
Serve as SME on designated regulatory topics, including US Regulation (Swap Dealer and Securities‑Based Swap Dealer), EU‑wide regulation (Markets, Conduct, Payments, Organisational Requirement, ESG, Listing), and other cross‑border regulation in which MUFG holds a licence (Canada, Asia Pacific). Stay up to date on all regulatory developments under your responsibility by performing targeted horizon scanning. Complete impact analysis of regulatory developments and record the impact analysis in the relevant system. Escalate any material risks arising from regulatory developments to management. Advise key stakeholders on the application of new requirements, the associated risks, and the controls required to manage them, during both consultation and implementation phases. Participate in and, when needed, lead pre‑implementation working groups with relevant stakeholders. Act as the go‑to person during implementation, providing regulatory advice and opinion. Prepare briefing papers, presentations, memos, newsletter articles, traceability documents, and general MI for the topics under your responsibility. Support other team members when required. Interact with other teams in Compliance and outside Compliance as required. Attend and participate in trade‑association meetings, representing MUFG. Carry out other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the role as requested by your line manager or Department Head. Follow regulatory requirements applicable to ensure each business is appropriately supported and maintain the legal entity integrity of each of MUFG Bank and MUS. Resolve differences or conflicts in needs between MUFG Bank and MUFG Securities EMEA plc, escalating to your manager where required. Work under the Dual‑Hat Arrangement Agreement between MUFG Bank and MUFG Securities EMEA plc, and any other relevant agreements.
Functional / Technical Competencies
Strong understanding of the UK and EU regulatory framework; US regulations knowledge is a plus. Strong technical understanding of investment banking activities and securities trading. Exposure to trade associations. Working experience in wholesale banking, either in a compliance department, consultancy firm, regulatory agency or trade association. Analytical skills. Interpersonal skills. Communication skills (oral and written).
