Job Description
Do you love sharing your passion for history?
As the Visitor Engagement Manager, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day interpretation of displays at a large and busy museum. You'll lead and develop a team of Interpreters and volunteers to bring history to life through immersive experiences. You'll also support the creation of exhibitions and visitor events across the site.
You'll ensure high standards and consistent, excellent customer service while delivering safe, engaging, and commercially successful projects. You'll motivate and develop the team, supporting them to perform at a high level and helping shape an inclusive, collaborative, and productive team culture.
About You
A confident people manager, your drive and organisational skills will help you motivate enthusiastic volunteers to bring a Living History Museum to life for visitors.
You'll use your skills and attention to detail to create audience-focused, accessible interpretation-from live presentations to exhibitions. Whether it's ensuring we have 1940s shopkeepers for the Sweet Shop, training volunteers to demonstrate Victorian laundry techniques, caring for new objects, or working on exhibitions and family trails, this role offers new challenges in a fast-paced, exciting, and fun workplace. No two days are the same, so you'll thrive on variety and be able to think on your feet to solve problems.
Working Environment
The organisation is committed to creating inspirational cultural experiences that enrich and transform lives. It manages and supports visitor attractions and delivers outreach programmes that bring culture to local communities. It also runs a diverse range of social impact initiatives aimed at those who are vulnerable or disadvantaged and may not usually have access to arts and culture.
Equity, inclusion, and diversity are core values. The organisation actively values difference and aims to recruit and retain a diverse workforce that reflects the communities it serves.
