In this critical role within in the Business Risk and Control team, you’ll be responsible for the oversight and operation of the Conduct Risk Framework in Santander London Branch.
You’ll oversee conduct risk management and industry code adherence alongside broader business controls whilst ensuring that ethical behaviour, regulatory compliance, and risk management are embedded in business processes and decisions. You’ll identify, assess, and mitigate conduct-related risks, safeguarding the interests of clients, employees, and stakeholders while upholding the bank’s reputation.

The difference you’ll make:
Monitoring and analysing business activities to identify potential conduct risks, control gaps, emerging risks and operational weaknesses, such as conflicts of interest, unethical behaviour or market misconduct
Developing tools and frameworks to assess conduct risks across divisions of the bank alongside broader adherence to codes and regulatory requirements
Partnering with business leaders and infrastructure teams (e.g. Compliance, NFR, Audit) to proactively design and implement guidelines and procedures within 1LoD to manage and mitigate conduct risk effectively
Working closely with internal teams to align conduct risk strategies and supporting engagement with external regulators and industry bodies to ensure the bank adheres to best practices
Supporting governance forums and control committees, providing creditable challenge, data-driven insights and clear reporting on risk/control status, incidents and remediation progress
Championing a culture of conduct integrity, and operational resilience, promoting awareness of front-office obligations under internal policies and external codes (e.g. FMSB, UK Money Market Code, Code of Conduct)
What you’ll bring:
These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:
Previous experience in operating a Conduct Risk Framework within an Investment Banking Markets, Sales and Trading environment
In depth knowledge and understanding of the UK regulatory environment and the evolution of conduct risk management in wholesale markets
Working knowledge of relevant conduct regulations such as UK MAR, SM&CR and FSMA, and industry codes of practice including FMSB, Global FX Code, UK Money Market code
High ethical standards and commitment to integrity in all aspects of risk management
It would also be nice for you to have:
Excellent interpersonal, stakeholder management and communication skills
Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable insights
Proficiency in risk management software, statistical analysis tools, and Microsoft Office Suite
Relevant industry-recognised qualifications or equivalent
What else you need to know:
This role is based at our offices in Triton Square, London located within easy walking distance from Warren Street and Euston.

To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 3 days a week (pro-rata for part-time roles).

Eligible for a discretionary performance-related annual bonus.
We put 8% of salary into your pension, even if you don’t contribute yourself. We’ll pay in up to 12.5% of salary, if you contribute as well, and you can take some of our contribution in cash if you prefer.
