Position Summary
Are you ready to lead and transform Project Management excellence in a global biopharma organisation?
At GSK, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to join us as theVice President, Head of Project Management Technology & Standards.
This is a pivotal role within our R&D organisation, responsible for shaping and driving the future of project management excellence, technology enablement, and data standards across our pipeline. You will lead a highly skilled global team and play a key role in advancing our R&D strategy while ensuring alignment, standardisation, and best practices across the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Lead PM Excellence:Drive project management excellence across R&D, ensuring alignment, standardisation, and best practice sharing, while developing capabilities and frameworks for Research Unit-aligned project managers.
- Technology Leadership:Oversee the operational health, maintenance, and improvement of the PPM platform (Planisware), ensuring it remains a best-in-class tool for driving pipeline delivery.
- Data Standards:Ensure availability and quality of product and substance data in accordance with industry standards (IDMP), supporting robust project plans and decision-making.
- Global Health & ViiV Project Management:Provide leadership for project management activities supporting the Global Health and ViiV pipelines, ensuring strong execution and delivery.
- Business Development Project Leadership:Lead project management activities for business development deals, from pre-diligence through integration, in close collaboration with BD and Alliance Management teams.
- Benchmarking & Innovation:Regularly benchmark externally to identify best-in-class practices and drive innovation in project and resource management disciplines, leveraging digital tools and future-focused approaches.
- Community Coordination:Animate and coordinate the PPM community across R&D, fostering collaboration and alignment across teams globally.
- Talent Development:Support the organisation in attracting, developing, and retaining exceptional project management experts, fostering a high-performing and inclusive team culture, working together towards one mission.
Qualifications/Skills
Basic Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a scientific or business discipline;
- Substantial experience in large pharma, including pharmaceutical R&D or related industry experience.
- Proven track record of leading global project management functions where people are challenged, developed and talent management is driving performance.
- Demonstrated expertise in drug/vaccine discovery, development, and commercialisation processes, including driving pipeline acceleration, critical path optimisation, scenario planning, risk management, budget forecasting/management
Preferred Qualifications:
You will stand out if you also bring the following:
- MBA or PhD Degree
- PMP certification strongly preferred.
- Significant experience working with executive teams and influencing decision-making in complex, global environments.
- Strong and high-quality analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of creativity and innovation in developing new approaches and methodologies.
- Outstanding communication, negotiation, and influencing skills; ability to build personal credibility quickly, and assimilate business issues/needs
- Cultural awareness and ability to navigate multi-cultural environments effectively.
Location:
This role is based in the United Kingdom, United States or Belgium and offers a hybrid working model.
