WAREHOUSE SUPERVISOR – AFTERNOON SHIFT
Location: Kettering
Type of Role: Contract – 2 years
Shift Pattern: 14:00 – 22:00, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekends and Bank Holidays
Salary: £19.25 per hour (equivalent to £40,000 per annum) plus 15% shift allowance for all hours worked after 19:00
About the Company
Our client is a leading railway infrastructure company dedicated to excellence within the rail industry. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Warehouse Supervisor to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will assist the Warehouse Manager in leading a team to efficiently manage material deliveries and receipts, ensuring alignment with customer service objectives and adherence to agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
Lead a proficient team of warehouse operatives to meet operational demands, customer expectations, and achieve digital KPI targets.
Ensure timely delivery of materials to depots and both UK and overseas repairers in line with production schedules.
Oversee the training and development of new warehouse operatives within your area of responsibility, providing ongoing support as required.
Health and Safety Management
Ensure all team members are trained, competent, and consistently work safely.
Maintain all vehicles, machinery, and equipment to ensure they are safe and fit for purpose.
Promote strict adherence to operational standards and policies, particularly Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives.
Manage workflows, processes, and equipment to consistently meet or exceed performance targets.
Facility Preparation and Management
Support the design and fit-out of a new purpose-built warehouse tailored to operational needs.
Ensure all staff understand and comply with operational changes through regular briefings.
Assist with transport planning and stock transfers, ensuring inventory accuracy in accordance with the warehouse management plan.
Materials Management
Coordinate the deployment of personnel, processes, materials, and equipment to minimise disruption.
Maintain accurate inventories within your area of responsibility.
Ensure all stock movements and transactions are precisely recorded.
Organise and participate in regular stock takes.
Experience & Qualifications
Proven experience supervising warehouse operations in a similar role is essential.
Strong people management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
Financial and budgetary awareness.
Experience in managing and operating Material Handling Equipment (MHE) with a valid FLT licence.
Relevant warehouse or people management qualifications are advantageous.
Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
Ability to support and collaborate with teams to overcome challenges and add value.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage, motivate, and coach staff.
Health and Safety qualification (e.g., IOSH or NEBOSH) or working towards one is desirable.
Experience with SAP or similar Warehouse Management Systems is advantageous.
Experience working within a cross-cultural environment is beneficial.
