Waste Operative
The Dual Site Green Waste Operative is responsible for operating a range of mobile and static plant machinery across sites. The role supports the safe and efficient receipt, processing, composting, and distribution of green waste in line with PAS100/PAS110 standards, ISO accreditation, environmental permits, and health & safety requirements.
The post holder will work across multiple sites as directed by the Green Waste Manager, ensuring high standards of operational performance, site compliance, equipment care, and environmental responsibility.
Waste Operative Key Responsibilities:
Receive, weigh, unload, sort, and process incoming green waste in accordance with PAS100 standards
Operate and maintain mobile and static plant machinery in line with legislation, site procedures, and manufacturer guidance
Complete daily operational records and checks using the MMC app
Ensure compliance with site permits, ISO accreditation, and the Integrated Management System (IMS)
Carry out daily safety inspections, routine maintenance, and basic mechanical upkeep of plant and equipment
Maintain high standards of site tidiness, cleanliness, security, and legal compliance
Support the Green Waste Manager in achieving production targets and site budget objectives
Ensure plant, equipment, and working areas are kept clean, safe, and presentable at all times
Take ownership of health, safety, and environmental standards to provide a safe working environment for all
Contribute to compliance with Environmental Permits, ABPR, PAS110, and other regulatory requirements
Provide operational support across other Severn Trent Green Power contracts as required
Waste Operative Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Waste Operative Essential:
Loading Shovel certificate with a minimum of one years practical experience in a similar operational environment
Competent in operating spreading machinery
Competent in operating tractor and trailer
Strong understanding of safe working practices
Knowledge of ISO accreditation and environmental permit compliance
Basic mechanical maintenance aptitude for plant and machinery
Full UK driving licence (Clean)
