Position Summary
Edinburgh Wastewater is seeking a dependable, hands-on Wastewater Maintenance Technician to support the operation, maintenance, and repair of the municipal wastewater collection system and related infrastructure. This role is ideal for candidates who enjoy field work, mechanical tasks, and contributing to essential public services. CDL training is provided under an agreed training contract.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Valid Indiana driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
Ability to obtain and maintain a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within 120 days of hire
Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn wastewater systems and equipment
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and complete basic documentation
Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
Qualifications
Experience in wastewater, sewer maintenance, utilities, construction, or public works
Familiarity with lift stations, pumps, motors, valves, and basic electrical components
Experience operating maintenance equipment (jetter, vac truck, dump truck – once CDL is obtained)
Confined space, OSHA, or safety training
Municipal or utility experience
Licenses & Certifications
Valid driver’s license (required at hire)

Core Job Duties
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on wastewater collection systems, lift stations, and equipment
Assist with inspection, cleaning, and rehabilitation of sewer lines
Operate wastewater maintenance vehicles and equipment (upon CDL certification)
Respond to sewer backups, overflows, and emergency service calls
Maintain accurate service and maintenance records
Follow all safety, environmental, and operational policies
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Outdoor work in varying weather and environmental conditions
Exposure to wastewater, chemicals, and confined spaces
On-call rotation, occasional evenings/weekends, and emergency response
Moderate to heavy physical labor
CDL Training & Employment Condition
Edinburgh Wastewater provides Class B CDL training under an agreed training contract. Employees must successfully obtain a Class B CDL within 120 days of hire. Failure to obtain the CDL within this timeframe may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination, unless an approved extension is granted for documented extenuating circumstances.
