An exciting opportunity has become available for a proactive and safety-focused Strategic Asset Technician to join our team in Bournemouth on a full time, permanent basis. You'll play a key role in maintaining our assets, supporting operational activities, and ensuring we continue to deliver high-quality drinking water and excellent customer service. This is a varied, hands-on role that involves planned and reactive work, problem-solving, and occasional participation in standby and call-out rotas.
Experience in water supply or related technical environment is helpful but we also welcome applicants with transferable skills - full training will be provided
What You'll Be Doing:
  • Follow all Health, Safety & Security policies and standards at all times.
  • Carry out maintenance tasks on a wide range of network assets, including service reservoirs, pressure reducing valves, network fittings and pumping stations.
  • Plan and deliver routine and reactive reservoir cleaning.
  • Use inspection tools such as CCTV and ROV equipment.
  • Work in line with all QMS procedures and maintain up-to-date knowledge of them.
  • Ensure environmental protection requirements are met during maintenance activities.
  • Support supply interruption mitigation techniques, both in planned and reactive situations, including out-of-hours deployment.
  • Contribute to wider water distribution operations such as trunk main walking, mains flushing, and non-highway excavations for leaks or asset access.
  • Undertake valve and fitting servicing and replacements.
  • Prevent contamination during all tasks and know how to respond in the event of an incident.
  • Participate in call-out and standby rotas as required.
  • Maintain positive relationships with customers, colleagues, public authorities and other stakeholders through high levels of customer service.
  • All of the above will require you to work at height and in confined spaces.
What We're Looking For:
  • A good standard of education, including GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • EUSR Water Hygiene Certificate, If you don't currently hold this certificate, we will support you to gain it
  • Ability to deliver work to regulatory deadlines, including reporting requirements.
  • A flexible, adaptable approach to daily tasks, with the ability to respond quickly to incidents.
  • Ability to maintain buildings and structures.
  • A background in delivering high-quality internal and external customer service.
  • Familiarity with GIS systems and related digital tools.
  • Experience in utilities, pipeline construction or street works.
  • Due to the nature of standby and call-out duties we ask that you can reach the operational area within approximately 45 minutes, if you are unsure we are happy to discuss this with you
