We’re looking for a Mid–Senior Web Developer to join a growing digital team based in Wakefield. This is a hands-on role where you’ll work across both front-end and back-end development, contributing to modern, user-focused web applications used in real-world commercial environments.
You’ll be trusted with meaningful responsibility, involved in technical decisions, and encouraged to shape how things are built.
The Role:
You’ll be part of a collaborative development team, working closely with designers, product owners and stakeholders to deliver high-quality web solutions. This role suits a developer who enjoys problem-solving, writing clean and maintainable code, and seeing their work make a tangible impact. You’ll split your time across front-end and back-end development, with the opportunity to lean into your strengths while continuing to grow your skill set.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Building responsive, high-performance user interfaces using React and modern JavaScript
- Developing and maintaining secure, scalable backend services using PHP and Node.js
- Designing, querying and optimising SQL Server databases
- Collaborating with designers and product owners to improve user journeys and functionality
- Contributing to UI/UX discussions and helping shape intuitive interfaces
- Taking part in code reviews, sprint planning and team stand-ups
- Troubleshooting, improving and refactoring existing applications
- Following best practices for performance, security and maintainability
What We’re Looking For:
- 3–6+ years commercial web development experience
- Strong front-end skills with React, JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3
- Solid back-end experience with PHP and Node.js
- Experience working with SQL Server (schemas, queries, optimisation, stored procedures)
- Good understanding of RESTful APIs and modern development workflows
- Experience using Git in a team environment
- Comfortable working on-site in Wakefield, three days per week
- Strong communication skills and a practical, problem-solving mindset
Nice to Have (Not Essential):
- Interest or experience in UI/UX design
- Knowledge of TypeScript
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or similar)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines
You don’t need to tick every box, they are more interested in strong fundamentals and a willingness to learn.
What You’ll Get:
- Competitive salary (dependent on experience)
- Hybrid working (3 days on-site, 2 remote)
- Friendly, supportive and collaborative team environment
- Opportunities for training, learning and career progression
- Modern tech stack and meaningful, long-term projects
- A role where your ideas and contributions are genuinely valued
Why Apply?
This is a great opportunity for a developer who wants variety, responsibility and progression without being siloed or micromanaged. You’ll work on real products, with real users, alongside people who care about building things properly.
