The Will Writer will take ownership of the firms will writing and associated private client services. The role will focus on delivering high-quality client advice, managing files independently, and developing this area of the business in collaboration with the Independent Financial Advisers (IFAs).

The position does not require the individual to be a qualified solicitor. However, significant practical experience and technical knowledge are essential, as the role requires the ability to manage matters competently and independently with minimal supervision.

This is both a service delivery and growth-focused role. The successful individual will be expected to maintain existing client work while identifying and developing new opportunities.

The role involves working closely with the Independent Financial Advisers, Directors, administrative support team and, where appropriate, external professional advisers. While the position requires the ability to manage work independently and take full ownership of matters, it also sits within a collaborative team environment where communication, cooperation and cross-referral are key to delivering a joined-up client service.

Key Responsibilities

Technical & Client Work

Drafting wills, including straightforward and more complex structures

Advising on estate planning and care fees planning

Preparing and registering Lasting Powers of Attorney

Advising on and administering trusts (where appropriate to qualification level)

Probate and estate administration matters

Inheritance tax planning in collaboration with IFAs

Identifying cases requiring specialist legal referral where necessary

Ensuring compliance with Money Laundering Regulations and internal compliance procedures

There is potential for the role to expand into Court of Protection and Deputyship work as the service develops.

Case Management

Managing a full and varied caseload independently

Prioritising work effectively and meeting agreed deadlines

Maintaining accurate file notes and client records

Using internal systems and case management software appropriately

Administrative support will be provided.

Business Development & Growth

Developing and retaining clients in line with agreed strategy

Working closely with IFAs to generate cross-referrals

Identifying planning opportunities arising from financial reviews

Building long-term client relationships to encourage repeat business and referrals

Contributing to the growth and visibility of the private client offering

Knowledge & Experience

Demonstrable experience in will writing and private client work

Strong working knowledge of:

Wills

Trusts

Estate administration

Lasting Powers of Attorney

Inheritance tax principles

Understanding of risk management and regulatory compliance

Ability to assess when matters fall outside scope and require referral

STEP qualification or working towards STEP is desirable but not essential. xbpsjku Support for further professional development may be available.
