About the role:
The Workday HR Systems Specialist is responsible for supporting, optimising, and maintaining the full Workday platform across the employee lifecycle. This role ensures Workday is effectively configured, stable, and continually improved through system updates, troubleshooting, new functionality implementation, and collaboration with HR and business stakeholders. The specialist acts as a subject‑matter expert, delivering high‑quality system support and enabling efficient, accurate HR operations.
Responsibilities:
Implementation & Enhancements
- Lead and support the implementation of Workday features, future new modules, and enhancements.
- Configure Workday functionality including business processes, calculated fields, reports, alerts, and integrations.
- Participate in Workday bi‑annual releases, including impact assessment, testing, adoption decisions, and communication.
- Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes through automation and improved system design.
- Support new companies in onboarding into the workday system
System Support & Maintenance
- Provide day‑to‑day support for Workday modules (e.g., HCM, Compensation, Recruitment, Talent, Learning, VoE, Reporting).
- Troubleshoot system issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and resolve user queries in a timely manner.
- Manage security roles, access requests, and data integrity.
- Maintain system documentation including configurations, workflows, and test scripts.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Support
- Partner with HR teams to understand requirements and translate them into Workday solutions.
- Collaborate with HR first‑line support specialists, HR analytics colleagues, and other key stakeholders to identify new solutions and drive process optimisation.
- Engage with HR system support colleagues across our wider group of companies and external networks to exchange best practices and share lessons learned
- Support HR process owners during annual cycles such as performance, pay review, and talent processes.
- Work closely with IT, payroll, finance, and third‑party providers to support integrations and data flows.
About you:
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong understanding of Workday HCM architecture, configuration, business processes, and reporting.
- Ability to translate business needs into system requirements.
- Solid understanding of HR processes across the employee lifecycle.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and focus on data accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to deadlines.
- Familiarity with integration concepts (EIB, Core Connector, PECI) is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non‑technical audiences.
Experience
- Hands‑on Workday experience in an in‑house HR systems role.
- Experience configuring Workday modules and supporting system administration.
- Track record of participating in Workday releases, testing cycles, and/or module implementations.
- Experience building reports, dashboards, and calculated fields.
- Exposure to system integrations and security administration is beneficial.
