The Business

Our client is a well-established plant hire and machinery specialist in Northern Ireland, supporting customers across construction, infrastructure, and industrial sectors.

They operate a modern fleet of heavy plant, powered access, and general hire equipment, with a strong reputation for reliability and quality service.

The Role

As a Workshop Engineer, you'll be responsible for the service, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of plant equipment from the depot.

This role suits someone who prefers a structured environment, working on a variety of kit while supporting the wider engineering team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Service, maintenance, and repair of heavy plant and powered access equipment
  • Carry out pre-delivery inspections (PDI) and routine servicing
  • Diagnose faults across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Prepare equipment for hire and ensure it meets company standards
  • Work closely with the parts and service team to ensure efficient turnaround
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop

The Candidate

  • Experience working on heavy plant, powered access, or similar machinery
  • Strong mechanical and hydraulic fault-finding skills (electrical knowledge beneficial)
  • Workshop or depot-based experience preferred
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent (desirable)
  • Team player with a proactive attitude
  • Good attention to detail and pride in work
