Workshop Supervisor – Steel Fabrication

Talent Link Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced Workshop Supervisor to join a busy and well-established steel fabrication business in the Furness area.
This Workshop Supervisor opportunity is ideal for someone with a strong background in steel fabrication and welding who can oversee shop floor activity, maintain quality standards, and keep production moving efficiently. We are looking for a hands-on Workshop Supervisor who can lead from the front and support a productive, well-organised workshop environment.
As Workshop Supervisor, you will play a key part in the day-to-day running of the workshop, helping to coordinate jobs through production, manage documentation, monitor consumables, and carry out quality checks on fabricated sections. This Workshop Supervisor role would suit someone already working in a similar supervisory role, or a senior fabrication professional ready to take the next step.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise daily operations within a busy steel fabrication workshop
* Track jobs through each stage of the production process
* Ensure work is completed in line with technical drawings and required specifications
* Control and manage drawing issues, returns, and production documentation
* Carry out quality checks on fabricated steel sections
* Raise and assist in investigating non-conformance issues
* Monitor and control high-value consumables
* Support project material ordering and production flow
* Work closely with management and shop floor teams to maintain output and standards
* Promote a safe, organised, and efficient workshop environment
Skills and Experience Required
* Previous experience as a Workshop Supervisor, Chargehand, Foreman, or senior workshop leader
* Strong background in steel fabrication and welding
* Ability to read and interpret fabrication/engineering drawings
* Good understanding of workshop processes, steel sections, and fabrication terminology
* Experience in carrying out quality checks and maintaining standards
* An organised and methodical approach to work
* Good communication skills and ability to work with both management and shop floor teams
* Comfortable using Microsoft Office / Office 365 for records and reporting
