An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Youth Support Worker to join a specialist day provision in the Wirral region. This role offers the potential for a permanent position after an initial 12-week temporary period and is ideal for individuals with experience working with children or within social care environments.
Position Overview
The Youth Support Worker role involves offering daily emotional and practical support to students aged 11 to 16. The aim is to motivate and empower young people to develop independence and resilience through individualised support plans. Working as part of a dedicated team, you will help create an engaging, safe, and supportive environment aligned with the organisation's innovative approach to education and care.
Key Responsibilities
* Providing day-to-day support focused on emotional well-being and practical needs
* Building strong, trusting relationships with young people
* Motivating students to gain independence and confidence
* Offering advice and support in line with support plans and keyworker instructions
* Responding effectively to crises with a forward-thinking attitude
* Collaborating closely with team members to ensure consistent care and support
* Adhering to safeguarding policies and promoting a safe environment
Essential Skills & Experience
* Minimum of six months’ experience working with children or within social care settings
* Strong relationship-building skills and resilience
* Understanding of trauma, social challenges such as homelessness or domestic abuse
* Ability to respond calmly to crises
* Empathetic, caring, and resilient nature
* Current enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one
* Right to work in the UK
