Job Title: Practice Accountant

Location: Wallasey
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum
Working Hours: Monday Friday, 9:00am 5:00pm (30-minute lunch)

The Role:

We are recruiting for an experienced Accountant to join a small, established practice team of four. This is a hands-on role requiring someone confident in preparing year-end accounts and managing VAT returns for a portfolio of sole traders and limited companies.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, managing their own workload, and liaising directly with clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation of year-end accounts for sole traders and limited companies
• Preparation and submission of VAT returns
• Managing a portfolio of clients
• Liaising with clients to obtain financial information and resolve queries
• Ensuring compliance with current accounting and tax regulations
• Supporting the wider team where required

Essential Requirements

• Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role (practice experience preferred)
• AAT Level 4 or higher qualification essential.
• Strong experience preparing year-end accounts for sole traders and limited companies
• Confident preparing and submitting VAT returns
• Working knowledge of Xero, Sage, QuickBooks and TaxCalc
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Ability to work independently within a small team environment
