Job Description

An established, design-led architectural practice specialising in bespoke private residential projects is seeking a qualified Architect or Architectural Technologist with 3–5 years’ post-qualification experience.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to high-quality, detail-driven residential schemes, including traditional and high-end bespoke projects, within a collaborative and technically rigorous studio environment.

The Role

The successful candidate will support and lead project delivery across all RIBA Work Stages, from concept through to completion. You will contribute to design development, technical detailing, consultant coordination and on-site delivery, ensuring projects are executed to a high standard of quality, compliance and buildability.

You should demonstrate strong capability in traditional technical detailing, with experience on bespoke private residential schemes highly desirable. A robust understanding of UK planning policy, Building Regulations, construction systems and procurement routes is essential.

The role requires confidence working independently as well as collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams. Proficiency in ArchiCAD is advantageous, though not essential, as training can be provided.

Prior experience in classical architecture is not required; however, an interest in traditional and contextual design approaches is expected.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to projects across all RIBA Work Stages
  • Produce detailed drawing packages and construction information
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors and specialist suppliers
  • Liaise confidently with private clients and stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with UK planning policy, Building Regulations and relevant standards
  • Support delivery within agreed programme, budget and resource parameters

Key Competencies

  • Strong design sensibility with excellent technical detailing skills
  • Practical, solutions-focused approach to problem solving
  • Confident communicator, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work autonomously and within collaborative project teams
  • Sound understanding of UK construction methods, contracts and procurement
  • Working knowledge of traditional and classical architectural principles (advantageous)
  • Willingness to travel within the UK as project requirements demand

This position would suit an ambitious and motivated professional seeking long-term career development within a practice known for delivering carefully crafted residential architecture of enduring quality.
