Job Title: Automation Maintenance Engineer\n\nLocation: Manchester\nSalary: £35,000 - £45,000\nStart Date: ASAP\n\nAbout the Role:\nWe are seeking a skilled Automation Maintenance Engineer to ensure the reliability and performance of our automated equipment and control systems. This hands-on role is perfect for engineers with a strong automation or electrical background who enjoy diagnosing faults, improving system performance, and working with PLC controlled machinery. Candidates from any industry with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.\n\nKey Responsibilities of Automation Maintenance Engineer\n\nMaintain, troubleshoot, and repair automated production and control systems\n\nDiagnose and resolve issues with PLC controlled equipment, sensors, drives, and control panels\n\nSupport planned preventative maintenance and respond to breakdowns\n\nMake PLC, HMI, and parameter adjustments as required\n\nIdentify and implement improvements to system reliability and performance\n\nCollaborate with operations, engineering teams, and external contractors\n\nEnsure all work is carried out safely and in line with site procedures\n\nComplete maintenance records and technical reports\n\nSkills & Experience:\n\nPrevious experience in maintenance, automation, or electrical engineering roles\n\nStrong fault-finding skills on automated machinery and control systems\n\nKnowledge of PLC based systems, including fault diagnosis and basic modifications\n\nRelevant electrical or automation qualification (apprenticeship, HNC/HND, or equivalent experience)\n\nWillingness to work shifts and respond to call-outs if required\n\nExperience with PLC/SCADA/HMI platforms such as Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider, or similar\n\nUnderstanding of industrial networks, drives, servos, or instrumentation\n\nBenefits:\n\nCompetitive salary with performance bonuses\n\nOvertime pay and on-call allowances\n\nPension scheme\n\nAccess to training programs for technical certifications\n\nOpportunities for career progression\n\nWR Engineering are the #1 recruitment partner for engineering, manufacturing & technical sales jobs.
