The successful candidate will be subjectto an Enhanced DBS Check, the cost of which is covered by the hospice. Any post holder within the organisationwill be expected to undertake safeguarding training appropriate to their roleand adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures. Main duties of the job
We are looking for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to work within the inpatient unit at our Little Hulton or Heald Green site, supporting patients and those close to them with a life limiting illness.

Job responsibilities
You will workclosely with registered nurses as part of a compassionate, multidisciplinaryteam to support the delivery of high-quality specialist palliative care.
You will:
- Supportthe assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of person-centred palliativecare.
- Providecare in a compassionate, sensitive and respectful manner.
- Workcollaboratively with nurses and other professionals to ensure safe, timely andeffective care.
- Buildpositive working relationships within the team to support patients and those closeto them.
Person Specification
- Right to Work. Must demonstrate Right to Work in the UK without sponsorship. Evidence required: Confirmation of status.
- Availability for Shift Work. Willingness and availability to work days, nights, weekends, and unsocial hours. Evidence required: Confirmation of shift availability.
Qualifications
- Care Certificate. Has completed the Care Certificate OR is willing to work towards it. Evidence required: Certificate or statement of willingness.
- Communication Skills Experience. Demonstrated experience or formal training in communication skills, such as patient communication, de escalation, or multidisciplinary teamwork. Evidence required: Course names, examples, or scenarios demonstrating communication skills.
Experience
- Experience as a Healthcare Assistant. Relevant and recent experience working as a Healthcare Assistant in a hospital, hospice, care home, or similar clinical care setting. Evidence required: Description of setting, duties, and duration.
- Interest in Specialist Palliative Care. Demonstrated interest or exposure to palliative/end-of-life care. Evidence required: Examples such as previous work, shadowing, voluntary experience, or reflective statements.
- Understanding of Safeguarding. Demonstrated understanding of safeguarding principles for adults and children. Evidence required: Previous training or examples of applying safeguarding.
- Basic IT competence with evidence of using electronic care records or other digital systems. Evidence required: Systems previously used and purpose (e.g., EMIS, SystmOne, e-rostering, care plans).
- Ability to Prioritise and Use Initiative. Experience of independently organising or prioritising care tasks in a busy clinical environment. Evidence required: Examples of when they had to prioritise workload.
- Teamwork and Professional Behaviour. Evidence of effective teamwork, confidentiality, and a person centred, empathetic approach. Evidence required: Examples demonstrating teamwork, confidentiality, or compassionate care.
