A thriving Oldham Alternative Provision that supports secondary-aged students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 are searching for Behaviour Mentors to contribute to their school community.
The provision works with pupils who have struggled to thrive in mainstream education due to challenging behaviour, ASC and SEMH needs, providing a structured and supportive environment where students can rebuild confidence, develop positive behaviours, and re-engage with learning.
The school focuses not only on academic progress, but also on helping students develop emotional regulation, resilience, and positive relationships. With smaller class sizes and a strong pastoral structure, staff can provide consistent support tailored to each student's needs.
The Role
As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a key role in supporting students both inside and outside of the classroom. You will work closely with pupils who require additional guidance to manage behaviour, remain engaged in learning, and develop the skills needed to succeed both academically and socially.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing 1:1 and small-group behaviour and pastoral support Supporting students displaying challenging behaviour and emotional dysregulation Helping pupils develop positive coping strategies and behaviour routines Supporting engagement with classroom learning and structured activities Implementing behaviour strategies in line with school policies Working cohesively with teachers, support staff, and pastoral teams Liaising with external professionals and stakeholders where appropriate Contributing to behaviour plans and monitoring student progress

The Ideal Candidate
Experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour, SEN or SEMH Resilient, calm and able to maintain professional boundaries A proactive relationship builder who can also work independently Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships Committed to helping vulnerable students achieve positive outcomes
