Business Development Manager

Our client is seeking a motivated, commercially astute sales professional with a proven background in Fire & Security project sales. This role offers the opportunity to join a dynamic, forward‑thinking organisation with a strong reputation for delivering high‑quality engineered solutions.
The Role
Acting as a senior commercial lead within the region, you will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing long‑term relationships, and driving sustained revenue growth. You will work closely with electrical contractors, facilities management providers, and end users to secure high‑value Fire & Security projects.
This position is ideal for someone who excels in building relationships, understands technical requirements, and thrives in a target‑driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Proactively identify and secure new business opportunities through networking, market analysis, and strategic outreach.
Build trusted and long‑standing relationships with consultants, contractors, facilities companies, and end users.
Lead the full tendering and bid process, producing high‑quality proposals and client presentations.
Work collaboratively with other regional business development managers to ensure accurate pricing, feasibility, and profitable delivery.
Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and industry changes to identify commercial opportunities and potential risks.
Negotiate commercial terms and agreements in line with company policy.
Achieve and exceed sales targets, maintaining a strong, well‑qualified pipeline of opportunities.
Provide clear and accurate sales reports, forecasts, and market insights to senior management.
Candidate Requirements
Strong track record in generating new business and securing Fire & Security project orders, particularly from electrical contractors, FM companies, and end users.
In‑depth knowledge of BS5839 Part 1 for fire alarm design, with a solid understanding of security system design principles.
Excellent communication, relationship‑building, and negotiation skills.
Experience managing the full sales lifecycle, from prospecting to deal closure.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a regional team.
Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify profitable opportunities.
Competent user of CRM systems (Simpro), Microsoft Office, and sales reporting tools.
Relevant industry or manufacturer training in Fire & Security (advantageous).
Full UK driving licence.
