Care Home Chef
Location: Altrincham, Greater Manchester
Pay: £15 per hour
Type: Permanent
Shift: Days

About the Role
A care home in Altrincham is seeking an experienced Chef to plan and deliver nutritious, high-quality meals for residents. You will be responsible for menu planning, food preparation, stock control, and maintaining high standards of food hygiene and safety.
This is a hands-on role requiring strong organisational skills, creativity, and the ability to lead and motivate a small kitchen team.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and prepare daily menus that meet residents nutritional needs and preferences
  • Produce meals that are appetising, visually appealing, and cost-effective
  • Monitor food stock levels and order supplies as required
  • Maintain accurate records of food orders and inventory
  • Ensure all food is stored, prepared, and served safely and hygienically
  • Train and supervise kitchen staff
  • Implement and maintain health and safety procedures, including food handling standards
  • Maintain a clean and organised kitchen, including regular deep cleaning
  • Build positive relationships with residents and respond to feedback
Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience as a Chef, ideally within a care home, healthcare, or hospitality setting
  • Strong cooking skills with knowledge of various techniques
  • Understanding of nutrition and dietary requirements
  • Knowledge of food safety and health & safety regulations
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work under pressure
  • Experience supervising or training kitchen staff
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including weekends and bank holidays
Qualifications
  • Food Hygiene Level 2 (willing to work towards higher qualification)
  • First Aid Certified
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Food Preparation/Catering
