CDM Principal Designer / Advisor

Job Description
The variety of projects, from Football Stadiums and £2bn masterplans to Refurbs and Commercial, means you’ll always be moving forward in terms of promotions and professional development.
These are not the kind of projects where you get appointed late, or get treated like a tick box professional either.
You can be a cog on these interesting and unique mega projects and still give yourself space to progress by leading on smaller jobs. There’s variety to keep things moving forward for you and to keep things interesting.
In fact you’d never be kept stagnant, without progression at all here. Twice a year you’ll sit down and discuss personal targets, career aspirations and plans. The promotions and progression won't be a surprise you'll know when it's coming because you'll work towards it in a targeted way.
There’s a variety of options for professional development, which could look like you going into a Building Regulations PD role and onwards from there. Equally you could wish to stay purely within CDM and move towards a lead consultant position on the mega projects, becoming an Associate Director or Director.
In fact, nearly all of the Senior Management started here as Juniors or intermediates. It’s a well trodden path for you to follow, and you’ll hear the same directly from them at the interview.
They've been advising on health and safety well before the 2015 regulations and they've always and will always be taken seriously.
You’ll find that you deal with less stress, less difficult last minute deadlines. Instead you’ll be giving more front end advice and have proper influence in the design stages.
What you’ll get
- Plenty of opportunity to work from home for most of your week.
- 5 weeks holiday PLUS bank holidays.
- A paid volunteer day / Charity day every year.
- Enhanced Maternity leave.
- (The rarely seen) enhanced Paternity leave.
- Enhanced Sickness leave.
- Flexibility on when, where and how you log on to work.
- A significant bonus on top of the brilliant salary.
- Free lunches once a week.
- Early finish before the weekend.
What you’ll be doing
- Advising and assisting the client in meeting their duties.
- Ensuring designers are managing risk and advising on design decisions and options.
- Coordinate across different disciplines to ensure safe construction and future use.
- Ensuring communication between all duty holders (client, designers, contractors).
- Compile and contribute to the Pre-Construction Information (PCI) and ensure it's provided to those who need it.
What you’ll need
- Strong knowledge of CDM 2015 and health & safety regulations
- Relevant construction/design experience.
- Good communication and coordination skills - this will be a client and external consultant facing job.
