Interim Commercial Manager / Quantity Surveyor

Large, Complex Infrastructure Projects

12 Month Contract £500 p/d – Outside IR35


We are seeking an experienced Interim Commercial Manager / Quantity Surveyor (QS) to support the delivery of large, complex infrastructure projects.


This is a senior interim role, ideal for a commercially astute professional with a proven track record in major highly regulated complex construction and infrastructure programmes.


The Role


You will provide commercial leadership and hands-on QS support across high-value infrastructure construction works, working closely with project, engineering, and procurement teams to ensure robust commercial control throughout the project lifecycle.


Key responsibilities will include:


  • Leading commercial management on complex infrastructure packages
  • Contract administration (NEC / bespoke forms preferred)
  • Cost forecasting, reporting, and cashflow management
  • Managing variations, compensation events, and change control
  • Subcontractor procurement, management, and final accounts
  • Risk and opportunity management
  • Supporting claims preparation, negotiation, and dispute avoidance
  • Providing clear commercial advice to senior stakeholders


About You


  • Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor on major infrastructure projects (e.g. transport, utilities, energy, civil engineering)
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC3/NEC4)
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, complex delivery environments
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Able to work autonomously and add value from day one
  • Professional qualification (RICS, CIOB, or equivalent) desirable but not essential


Assignment Details


  • Interim / 12 month Contract – £500 p/d Outside IR35
  • Long-term potential on a flagship infrastructure programme
  • Minimum 2 days on site managing stakeholders
