Consultant in Ophthalmology (Cornea)

A part‑time 6 PA post as a substantive Consultant in Cornea Ophthalmology is available at the Oxford Eye Hospital. The post is a medical post with an aspect of surgical activity built into the job plan.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical and surgical corneal sub‑specialist expertise for patients presenting with acute and chronic corneal disease and trauma.
  • Deliver clinical care in emergency and outpatient clinics, including surgical interventions.
  • Manage new referrals and existing patients under the care of Ophthalmology following cataract, glaucoma and retinal surgery, and for those with ocular surface pathologies.
  • Participate in the consultant on‑call rota and support multidisciplinary interaction with all sub‑specialties within Ophthalmology, including Optometry.
  • Engage in clinical trials and research activities; research opportunities are available and encouraged.

Qualifications

  • Completed CCT or equivalent (CESR) and on the specialist register; CCT fellowship in Cornea Ophthalmology is essential.
  • Applicants must be on the GMC specialist register or within 6 months of registration at the time of interview.
  • Job‑sharing arrangements are welcomed.
