Overview A Vacancy at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. Role Summary The post holder will work alongside existing consultant liaison psychiatrists, predominantly assessing and managing adults of working age, including perinatal patients presenting with mental health problems. At times, the post holder may also be required to assess later life patients presenting with, for example, delirium and/or dementia. Key Responsibilities The post holder will concentrate on the delivery of clinical duties and provide medical leadership to the team, particularly for adults of working age. Typical clinical sessions involve seeing one to three liaison cases and supervising other team members individually as part of clinical supervision. Along with other senior medics, the post holder will be involved in Mental Health Act assessments and Section 136 cases. It is anticipated that this will amount to between two and three Mental Health Act assessments per week, with additional complex cases to help establish diagnosis and treatment plans. Close liaison with all Manchester Royal Infirmary general medical and surgical ward colleagues, and with ED staff, will be important to improve patient care.
