Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Data Modeler to join our Financial Services team in London. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in designing and optimising data models, ensuring data integrity, and supporting enterprise-wide data architecture. The successful candidate will play a key role in structuring data to enable efficient analytics, reporting, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models
- Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to gather and translate requirements into data structures
- Ensure data models align with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry standards
- Optimise database structures for performance, scalability, and maintainability
- Work closely with data engineers and analysts to support data integration and analytics use cases
- Maintain data dictionaries, metadata, and documentation for enterprise data assets
- Enforce data governance standards, including data quality, consistency, and lineage
- Support data warehousing initiatives and modern data platform implementations
Required Skills & Experience
- 8 - 12 years of experience in data modeling within the Financial Services industry
- Strong expertise in data modeling techniques (e.g., dimensional modeling, 3NF, Data Vault)
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational and non-relational databases
- Hands-on experience with data modeling tools (e.g., ERwin, ER/Studio, or similar)
- Solid understanding of financial data domains (e.g., trading, risk, finance, regulatory reporting)
- Experience working with large-scale data environments and data warehouses
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and business stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., PySpark, Hadoop ecosystem)
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks and regulatory standards in financial services
- Exposure to ETL/ELT processes and tools
