Design Manager

Our client, a leader in the water industry, is seeking a skilled Design Manager to join their team in Manchester on a contract basis. This exciting opportunity will see you working on key projects such as Sewage Treatment Works (STW), Clean Main Renewals, and Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs), with a minimum of three days required in the office.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage, direct and develop engineers, CAD technicians and graduates
Grow the design team and maintain a positive ethos and attitude within the team
Lead the design process on multidisciplinary water industry projects
Challenge, improve and shape formal processes and procedures for the design team and ensure work is undertaken using them
Identify and implement appropriate software packages, driving the use of BIM and 3D modelling where necessary
Ensure the team produces design deliverables that satisfy safety and quality requirements and are fully integrated
Ensure the team produces design deliverables within agreed timescales and hours
Ensure the team uses appropriate standards, best practice, and software tools
Fully record project changes for design packages
Assist with estimating hours required for design packages

Job Requirements:

Experience in the engineering design industry in a regulated sector
Graduate or HND qualification
Good level of IT proficiency
Experience in the regulated water industry
Track record managing multidisciplinary design teams and projects
Experience building teams and developing junior staff
Driving licence and access to a vehicle
Chartered engineer or working towards chartership
