Director of Finance, Financial Control

Job Description Reporting directly to the CFO, the Director of Finance – Financial Control is accountable for driving financial excellence with sustainable foundations. As a member of the Heathrow Senior Leadership Team, the role oversees external reporting, financial and tax compliance with statutory, regulatory, investor and tax authorities, ensuring robust internal policies, processes and controls. Responsibilities
Delegated accountability from the CFO for the four core finance processes (Oracle) and for setting finance frameworks and policies with robust controls. Setting the strategic direction for external financial reporting, tax and treasury control activities for Heathrow. Ensuring accounting policies are aligned with IFRS and other relevant reporting standards, including the Companies Act. Leading the team in preparing, attending and presenting all financial matters to the Audit Committee to ensure good governance over key accounting judgments, estimates and relevant issues. Accountability for managing the corporate entity structure and distributable reserves to meet shareholder requirements for dividend payment.
Essential Skills
Qualified accountant (FCA, FCCA, CIMA) with demonstrable experience as a Financial Controller in a FTSE 250 or equivalent sized private company. Experience setting the strategic direction for external financial reporting, tax or treasury control. Strong influencing skills, able to explain complex accounting and tax issues to directors, executives and board members. Proven leadership of high‑performance teams towards challenging goals. Technical accounting and tax expertise with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
