Job Description

Economist (Manager) - salary up to £70,000 (dependant on experience) - London, United kingdom

A growing consultancy working at the forefront of a dynamic, high-growth sector is hiring a Manager to help shape the direction of its expert team. The firm specialises in delivering strategic and economic insight that guides critical decisions across industry and government.

You’ll be joining a close-knit, values-led organisation that places high importance on analytical depth, open collaboration, and long-term career development. It’s an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a fast-evolving global field.

Role

This senior role combines hands-on project leadership with strategic input across the business. You'll manage multiple projects, overseeing research design and delivery while guiding a team of economists and analysts.

With a strong grounding in both quantitative and qualitative economic methods, you’ll ensure high-quality outputs and lead work that informs real-world decisions. You’ll also contribute to business growth—shaping proposals, building client relationships, and identifying new opportunities. As part of the leadership team, you’ll mentor junior colleagues and help foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing culture.

Key Skills

Essential:

  • Proven experience experience in consultancy, government, or similar project-based roles
  • Proven track record in leading teams and delivering high-quality projects
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills
  • Experience managing clients and stakeholder engagement
  • Clear communicator with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong qualitative analysis skills, even with limited data

Good to have:

  • Knowledge or experience in the space sector
  • Background in economics (degree or professional role)
  • Familiarity with economic modelling and public sector business cases
  • Experience with evaluation frameworks (Green/Magenta Book)
  • Skills in R, Stata, or Python
  • Additional language skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of high-impact consulting projects from scoping to completion
  • Manage project teams and ensure high-quality outputs on time and within budget
  • Engage directly with clients including governments, agencies, and industry leaders
  • Translate complex data and insights into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Contribute to business development, proposals, and client relationship management
  • Support team development and contribute to internal strategic goals

Benefits

  • Hybrid working, with a focus on maintaining a healthy work-life balance; some occasional travel within the UK and internationally
  • A chance to take ownership of project delivery in a dynamic and intellectually rich sector
  • Close collaboration with and mentoring from experienced senior leaders, both seasoned economists with extensive expertise
  • Direct engagement with senior stakeholders from major space organisations and industry leaders

If you’re excited by the opportunity to shape major decisions in a future-facing sector, and thrive on delivering clarity in complex environments, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact with a highly respected consultancy.
