The ideal candidate will take ownership of the full estimating process-from reviewing enquiry documentation and assessing site conditions, to preparing accurate bids and supporting project handover. This role is essential in ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, profitably, and to the highest standards.\n\nResponsibilities will include:\n\nReviewing enquiry documentation including specifications, drawings, Bills of Quantities, and scope of works.\n\nConducting site visits for refurbishment projects to gather accurate dimensional data and assess site logistics.\n\nPerforming accurate take-offs from drawings, factoring in waste, transportation, and storage requirements.\n\nDetermining the full cost of materials, labour, plant, and access aligned with project specifications.\n\nIdentifying works that require subcontractor input and obtaining competitive quotes.\n\nMaintaining an up-to-date database of material, labour, and plant costs.\n\nWorking closely with the Commercial and Contracts teams to establish project budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.\n\nAssessing potential risks or uncertainties in estimates and proposing mitigation strategies.\n\nPreparing competitive, compliant, and accurate bids within set deadlines.\n\nMaintaining detailed records of estimates, submissions, and post-project reviews.\n\nSupporting effective project handover to ensure the Contracts Department has all necessary information for smooth delivery.\n\nWhat you will need to succeed:\n\nStrong understanding of construction processes, especially within flat roofing.\n\nAbility to read and interpret technical drawings and project specifications.\n\nProficient in using estimating software and Excel to calculate quantities and produce estimates.\n\nSkilled negotiator with experience obtaining competitive subcontractor and supplier quotes.\n\nStrong mathematical and analytical abilities.\n\nHigh level of attention to detail and ability to assess project risks and opportunities.\n\nExcellent time management and ability to manage own workload effectively.\n\nClear and confident communicator with the ability to build strong internal and external relationships.\n\nStrong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office.\n\nA proactive, honest and dependable approach to work.\n\nWhat you get in return:\n\nSalary £45000 - £55000\n\nPerformance-based staff bonus scheme\n\nCar allowance\n\nCorporate healthcare cash plan\n\n22 days holiday (rising to 25 with service)\n\nBirthday and long service awards\n\nEarly finish on Fridays\n\nRegular team social events\n\nOngoing training and development opportunities\n\nThis is an excellent opportunity for an Estimator looking to join a company that values its people, supports growth, and takes pride in delivering industry-leading results.
