This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in delivering high‑quality financial reporting, strong controls and sound financial governance in an organisation where accuracy and integrity really matter.
As Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining robust financial records and supporting the delivery of accurate reporting, audit and compliance activities. Working closely with the executive finance lead and partnering with the Management Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the organisation's financial records, supporting the preparation of financial statements, managing the general ledger, and contributing to budgeting and forecasting processes. Maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts, including journals, accruals and adjustments. Ensuring financial reporting complies with relevant accounting standards and internal controls. Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, including variance analysis. Coordinating and supporting internal and external audits, ensuring clear audit trails. Managing VAT returns and assisting with corporate tax processes. Supporting payroll preparation and reconciliations. Monitoring cash flow and maintaining the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules. Working collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to support financial processes. Providing cover and wider support within the finance team when required.
What you'll need to succeed:
Part‑qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), with a commitment to ongoing professional development. Strong understanding of financial accounting principles and internal financial controls. Experience maintaining general ledger accounts and supporting month‑end processes. Knowledge of accounting standards such as IFRS, GAAP or similar frameworks. Experience producing financial reports to support organisational decision‑making. Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail. Confident communicator, able to explain financial information to non‑finance stakeholders. Experience managing or supporting others, with a collaborative and proactive approach. Public sector or similar environment experience preferred, but not essential.
