People Group are recruiting for 1x Fire Engineers and 1x Fire Engineering Manager. \n\nThe Fire Engineer will support a leading rail consultancy who have won the majority of the engineering works in the North West & Central region on CP7 frameworks. You will be required to travel to various Network Rail sites on an ad-hoc basis and work from home the rest.\n\nThe Fire Engineering Manager will support our client, who is at the forefront of the mechanical, electrical and telecommunication market with expertise and long-standing experience across Rail, Highways, Power, and Tunnels. They have secured 7 – 10 years’ work, on major and high-profile infrastructure projects, UK wide.\n\nRate: Outside IR35\nLocation: Fire Engineer - Birmingham or Manchester & Fire Engineering Manager - London.\n\nYou’ll be responsible for:\nCoordination of work with other contractors and Network Rail.\nLiaison with route engineers (discipline).\nSubstantial experience in the design, installation and commissioning of fire systems.\nComprehensive understanding of codes and standards pertaining to the design of fire systems, which shall include evidence of passing relevant courses such as LPC/ BAFE etc.\nSubstantial experience in the design and review of fire strategies and engineering solutions\nAssurance of Fire Systems (limited to system design and commissioning).\nAssurance of fire strategy and designs which are based on the following prescriptive guidance and do not include any performance-based design or smoke control, and exclude managed stations        \nAssurance of all fire strategies /designs for managed stations or where some aspects of risk analysis or a performance-based approach have been adopted  \nParticipate in all engineering and development assurance activities so that they result in schemes that are affordable, and that meet programme requirements in a safe & environmentally responsible manner for time, cost and quality.\nUse risk ID and evaluation methods (e.g.

HAZOP, QRA etc.), as suitable, to evaluate and compare options.\nAct as or liaise with the appropriate project engineer so that method statements for site works and surveys are produced and approved to the required standards. \nYou’ll need to have:\nExperience in the use and application of codes and standards such as BS 9992, BS 9999\nProfessional membership or accreditation via a relevant body such as CIBSE/ IET.\nDegree in Fire Engineering or a similar discipline\nMember of the Institution of Fire Engineers (MIFireE)\n“People Group is an equal opportunity employer.
