Freelance Quantity Surveyor – Infrastructure Works (Major UK DNO Framework)
Location: Wakefield (Hybrid Working Available)
Engagement: Long-Term and Short-Term Contracts Available
Client: Major UK Distribution Network Operator (DNO)
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor to support delivery of infrastructure works for a major UK DNO, including substations, overhead lines, and associated network projects under NEC contracts.
Key Responsibilities

Manage assigned infrastructure projects under NEC contracts, ensuring compliance and effective risk management.

Administer compensation events, variations, and change control procedures.
*
Prepare, submit, and agree interim valuations and final accounts.
*
Provide commercial advice to project and operational teams.
*
Maintain accurate and auditable commercial records.
Cost Control & Reporting
*
Produce cost forecasts and cost-to-complete reports.
*
Monitor budgets and track commercial performance.
*
Identify and escalate commercial risks and opportunities.
*
Prepare structured reports for senior stakeholders and client representatives.
Supply Chain & Stakeholder Engagement
*
Assess and manage subcontractor applications and performance.
*
Work with project managers, engineers, and planners to align objectives.
*
Interface with client representatives on commercial matters.
Candidate Profile
Essential: Infrastructure project experience (substations, OHLs), NEC contracts knowledge, cost management and valuation expertise, independent working ability.
Desirable: RICS/CIOB/ICES accreditation, DNO or utility experience, electrical infrastructure cost understanding.
