General Manager – Modern British Restaurant

Location: South West London

Salary: £55,000

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

About the Restaurant

We are an established, high-quality Modern British restaurant in South West London, known for seasonal menus, outstanding hospitality, and a warm, neighbourhood-led atmosphere. Our focus is on exceptional guest experience, quality British produce, and a well-run, people-first operation.

We are now looking for an experienced General Manager to lead the front-of-house team and oversee the day-to-day running of the restaurant.

The Role

As General Manager, you will be fully responsible for the performance of the business, leading by example to deliver consistently high standards of service, team engagement, and commercial results. You will work closely with the Head Chef and ownership team to drive the restaurant forward.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full operational management of the restaurant
  • Lead, train and motivate the FOH team to deliver outstanding guest experiences
  • Drive sales, profitability, and performance against budgets
  • Manage rotas, payroll, and staffing levels
  • Maintain exceptional service standards and guest satisfaction
  • Oversee compliance with health & safety and licensing regulations
  • Build strong relationships with guests and the local community
  • Work collaboratively with the Head Chef on service flow and standards

About You

  • Proven experience as a General Manager / Restaurant Manager in a quality, hospitality-led restaurant
  • Strong leadership and people-management skills
  • Excellent knowledge of service standards and guest relations
  • Commercially minded with experience managing budgets and KPIs
  • Passion for Modern British food, wine, and hospitality
  • Hands-on, organised, and calm under pressure
