As a graduate civil engineer, you'll join our renewables team, undertaking renewable energy plant (e.g., wind farms) audits throughout the United Kingdom.
This is a permanent opportunity with immediate starts available. You'll be based in our Glasgow city centre office, with the option to work from home two days per week once you've completed your first 90 days. Regular travel to sites is required, so you must be able to drive for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Work effectively on several renewable energy audits concurrently.
- Undertake engineering and economics analysis of renewable energy projects.
- Witness and inspect mechanical and electrical commissioning of renewable energy projects.
- Participate in site visits and client meetings.
- Liaise with external organisations.
- Progress to undertake feasibility studies, design, specification, and implementation of renewable energy projects.
- Progress to provide grid connection and compliance support for renewable energy projects.
- Assist with various marketing and tender initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- Recent graduate (within a maximum of 2 years).
- Legal right to work in the UK from the start date
- Full UK driving licence.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge Areas
- Key renewable energy technologies such as power plants, wind, solar, and battery energy storage.
- Power generation, transmission, and distribution networks.
- Typical electrical power system studies (load flow, short circuit, losses).
- Electrical infrastructure and plant specification and arrangement for renewable energy projects.
- Main electrical equipment and cable sizing calculations.
- Beneficial knowledge of: power system analysis software such as DigSilent, PSCAD, or ETAP; grid connection and TSO/DNO interfaces; Feed-in Tariff (FIT) and Renewables Obligation (RO); UK Grid Code.
Skills
- Strong technical analysis capability.
- Ability to communicate effectively with different stakeholders.
- Excellent time management and ability to handle multiple tasks each week.
- Highly numerate with well-developed MS Excel skills (ideally including VBA and Python).
- Well-developed report writing skills using MS Word.
