Head of Commercial – Power & Grid Division
Location: UK-based with regular travel across project sites and offices
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Reporting to: Commercial Director – Projects

We're looking for a dynamic Head of Commercial to lead the commercial function within our Power & Grid Division. As Head of Commercial, you'll be responsible for driving commercial strategy, managing risk, and leading a talented team of commercial professionals. Your role will span:
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead and develop a team of Commercial Managers and Quantity Surveyors
- Work closely with senior stakeholders across Power & Grid and other business units
- Represent the division in strategic forums and contribute to cross-functional initiatives
Commercial Strategy & Performance
- Oversee cost value reconciliation (CVR) reporting and financial forecasting
- Drive operational efficiencies and maximise profitability
- Ensure accurate reporting and compliance with company policies
Contract Management & Risk
- Lead contract negotiations with clients and subcontractors
- Manage procurement relationships and ensure value for money
- Identify and mitigate commercial risks across all projects
Client Engagement & Business Growth
- Build strong relationships with clients and industry partners
- Support business development and tendering activities
- Represent Mitie at industry events and forums
Team Development
- Coach and mentor your team, supporting career progression and professional development
- Promote a culture of excellence, inclusion, and continuous improvement
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a confident, commercially astute leader with:
- A degree in Quantity Surveying, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience in senior commercial roles within electrical engineering, renewables, or MEP projects
- Strong knowledge of contract law and standard forms (NEC, JCT)
- Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills
- A full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Chartered status (e.g., RICS)
- Leadership qualifications or accreditation's
- CSCS card (or equivalent)
