Head of Engineering – Clinical & Digital Wellbeing | Permanent | Hybrid (3 days/week in Manchester HQ)
Salary: Up to £150,000 + Bonus + Benefits
We’re working with a transforming Clinical & Digital Wellbeing company that’s entering a new phase of technical maturity and product expansion. With a growing customer base, and several recent acquisitions, they’re now seeking a Head of Engineering to lead their UK technology hub through the next stage of growth.
This is a high-impact role where you’ll shape engineering culture, scale teams, and embed modern delivery practices all within an organisation that genuinely puts tech at the heart of its future.
The Opportunity:
You’ll be stepping into a business with ambition and momentum, where engineering is seen as a strategic enabler. The leadership team is aligned on building scalable, performant, and secure platforms and they’re ready to invest in the leadership to make that happen.
You’ll lead a multidisciplinary engineering team (~40 FTEs) and will be instrumental in:
Developing team structures and delivery models that support growth across multiple product lines Defining engineering principles, technical governance, and operational rhythms to drive consistency and quality Enabling high-trust, high-autonomy teams focused on delivery, innovation, and continuous improvement Supporting the migration of legacy solutions to cloud- infrastructure and modern architecture patterns Embedding scalable engineering practices across code quality, DevOps, security, and testing Working closely with technical leads, architects, and the CTO to define and execute against a long-term technology vision
About You:
We’re looking for an experienced Head of Engineering leader who thrives in leading through transformation and knows how to balance strategy with delivery.
Proven background leading engineering teams of 30+ in complex environments Experience scaling engineering functions in a cloud-first or SaaS business (AWS ) Strong grasp of modern development practices (CI/CD, IaC, microservices, containerisation, etc.) Adept at fostering high-performing product engineering cultures, especially through periods of change or growth Experience working with geographically distributed teams and collaborating across functions (product, architecture, QA) Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a hands-on approach to mentoring and developing engineering leaders
