Job Description

Head of Engineering – Clinical & Digital Wellbeing | Permanent | Hybrid (3 days/week in Manchester HQ)

Salary: Up to £150,000 + Bonus + Benefits

We’re working with a transforming Clinical & Digital Wellbeing company that’s entering a new phase of technical maturity and product expansion. With a growing customer base, and several recent acquisitions, they’re now seeking a Head of Engineering to lead their UK technology hub through the next stage of growth.

This is a high-impact role where you’ll shape engineering culture, scale teams, and embed modern delivery practices all within an organisation that genuinely puts tech at the heart of its future.

The Opportunity:

You’ll be stepping into a business with ambition and momentum, where engineering is seen as a strategic enabler. The leadership team is aligned on building scalable, performant, and secure platforms and they’re ready to invest in the leadership to make that happen.

You’ll lead a multidisciplinary engineering team (~40 FTEs) and will be instrumental in:

  • Developing team structures and delivery models that support growth across multiple product lines
  • Defining engineering principles, technical governance, and operational rhythms to drive consistency and quality
  • Enabling high-trust, high-autonomy teams focused on delivery, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Supporting the migration of legacy solutions to cloud-native infrastructure and modern architecture patterns
  • Embedding scalable engineering practices across code quality, DevOps, security, and testing
  • Working closely with technical leads, architects, and the CTO to define and execute against a long-term technology vision

About You:

We’re looking for an experienced Head of Engineering leader who thrives in leading through transformation and knows how to balance strategy with delivery.

  • Proven background leading engineering teams of 30+ in complex environments
  • Experience scaling engineering functions in a cloud-first or SaaS business (AWS preferred)
  • Strong grasp of modern development practices (CI/CD, IaC, microservices, containerisation, etc.)
  • Adept at fostering high-performing product engineering cultures, especially through periods of change or growth
  • Experience working with geographically distributed teams and collaborating across functions (product, architecture, QA)
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a hands-on approach to mentoring and developing engineering leaders

Why Now?

  • Recently restructured engineering leadership and tech strategy
  • Significant focus on modernising infrastructure and delivery practices
  • A chance to influence tech culture

If you’re a technical leader ready to take ownership of engineering direction, culture, and growth in a purpose-driven company, we’d love to hear from you.
