Head of Financial Planning Analysis

5 Days Old

Salary paying up to £150,000 plus excellent benefits Apointe are partnering on a retained basis with a private equity-backed organisation operating within the energy infrastructure sector, as they look to appoint a Head of FP&A to play a pivotal role in shaping financial strategy, performance and long-term value creation. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a genuine succession opportunity. The successful candidate will be viewed as a future CFO and will work closely with both the executive team and investors, sitting at the centre of strategic decision-making across the business. This is not a reporting-heavy, process-bound FP&A role. It is about ownership, pace and influence driving financial planning, forecasting and analysis in an environment where operational data evolves quickly and commercial decisions are made in real time. Finance is expected to lead, challenge and shape direction, not simply report on what has already happened. What you’ll be doing:
Leading the annual budgeting process and delivering robust, detailed forecasts across P&L and cashflow. Owning the financial planning cycle, ensuring forecasts are aligned to strategic objectives, CAPEX programmes and potential M&A activity. Partnering closely with the CFO, CEO and investors to translate strategy into measurable financial outcomes. Driving high-quality variance analysis, identifying key value drivers and implementing corrective actions at pace. Supporting long-term strategic planning through sophisticated financial modelling and scenario analysis. Producing and enhancing board-level reporting, providing clarity on KPIs, risk and opportunity. Working cross-functionally with IT and Commercial teams to strengthen data flows, reporting capability and BI outputs. Supporting debt covenant reporting, liquidity planning and capital allocation decisions. Acting as a true commercial business partner — influencing senior stakeholders and driving accountability across the P&L.
What our client is looking for:
Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA). Strong, demonstrable industry experience within energy, infrastructure or a closely aligned capital-intensive sector, this is essential. A proven background in FP&A, financial modelling and strategic reporting within complex, fast-moving environments. Private equity experience is advantageous, but not essential. This could be your first move into a PE-backed environment if you have the right sector exposure and mindset. Advanced Excel capability with exposure to ERP systems and BI tools such as Power BI. The confidence and credibility to operate at Board level and engage with investors.
This role is particularly well suited to someone currently operating in a large corporate environment who feels frustrated by slow decision-making, excessive layers of process and limited ability to influence change. Here, you’ll have visibility, influence and the opportunity to build something properly. You’ll work directly with senior leadership and investors, shape the financial narrative of the business, and position yourself as the natural successor to the CFO. If this sounds like you, please apply directly via the job advert link or contact Apointe for a confidential conversation. #J-18808-Ljbffr
